Rian Crooks announces retirement after 20 years of volunteer service
Rian Crooks announced his retirement as a volunteer firefighter with the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds-View Fire Department after 20 years of volunteer service to the community.
Crooks joined the department on Feb. 2, 1994 and was assigned to the night shift at Station One. During the course of his 20 years Crooks attended 700 drills and 2190 fire calls.
In addition to the 700 drills, he was certified as a FFI, FFII, and First Responder, and attended the several other specialized trainings. Crooks also served on the Relief Association board from 1997-2005.
Crooks will be presented with a commemorative badge at his last drill scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10. Upon presentation of the badge by Chief Zikmund, Crooks will introduce his family and friends and have the opportunity to address the crew. He will also receive a commemorative axe at the department’s annual Awards Banquet.
