RAHS gymnasts keep rolling along
The last eight Class AA state gymnastics team championships have gone to either Roseville Area High School or Northfield High School. It appears that streak will reach nine next month.
Northfield and Roseville sat 1-2 in last week’s Minnesota Girls Gymnastics Coaches Association rankings.
Roseville enters the final two weeks of the regular season undefeated. The Raiders are 6-0 in Suburban East Conference duals and have also won three multi-team non-conference meets.
In one of those meets, the Lakeville Invitational on Jan. 11, Roseville outscored Northfield 147.5-145.95.
Individually, Roseville has five gymnasts who have posted an all-around score of at least 36 this season. Isis Muller holds the teamís season-high score with a 38.35 and is followed by Carly Wagner’s 38.15. Jessica Strecker (37.275), Olivia Rosenow (36.15) and Kayla Soplata (36.0) are also on that list.
Roseville has two events on the docket this week, starting with a home meet against Stillwater on Tuesday. That meet is a make-up of an event originally scheduled for last Thursday but it was postponed because school was closed due to cold temperatures.
The Raiders travel to White Bear Lake for a conference dual on Thursday and then close out the regular season at home against Park-Cottage Grove on Feb. 6.
Roseville goes after its ninth consecutive section title when it competes in the Section 4AA meet on Feb. 15 at White Bear Lake. The state meet is Feb. 21-22 at the University of Minnesota’s Sports Pavilion.
