Roseville Area High School senior Caroline Brisbois was ranked sixth in last weekís Skinnyski.com high school Nordic ski racing individual poll. She made a case for a possible rise in this week’s rankings thanks to her performance at Saturday’s Mesabi East Invitational.

Held at Giant’s Ridge, the site of next month’s state meet, in Biwabik, the Mesabi East meet brought together most of the top prep cross country skiers in the state. Brisbois, racing in the freestyle portion, finished fourth overall and beat one of the girls ahead of her in the rankings.

As a team, the Roseville girls finished seventh. Teams earn points based on the finish of their top two skiers in both the freestyle and classic races. Emily Dyson was the Raiders’ second freestyler and their top classic racers were Hanna Torvi and Naomi Boehm.

Top-ranked Wayzata won the girls’ team title while third-ranked Stillwater was second and second-ranked Duluth East was third.

On the boys’ side, Roseville finished 30th. The Raiders’ top skiers were Graham Seignious, who finished 35th in the freestyle, and Wilson Pietruszewski, who wound up 45th in the classic.

Top-ranked Forest Lake captured the boysí team title. Third-ranked Minneapolis Southwest took second place while second-ranked Duluth East wound up third.
