Police searching for man charged with stabbing girlfriend

Damien Tito Jones, 43, is charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend in a home on the 800 block of East Sixth Street in the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood, while her son looked on.

As of press time, Jones was not in custody.

According to a criminal complaint from the Ramsey County attorney's office, officers arrived at the house on Tuesday, Dec. 10, around 2:21 a.m. to see a 5-year-old boy running towards them, saying, "He killed my mommy!"

The child was covered in his mother's blood.

In the home, police observed copious amounts of blood all over the walls, doors and floors, including in the bathroom, master bedroom, hallway and child's bedroom, the complaint states.

They found the boy's mother, 31, lying in a front room, bleeding heavily from multiple wounds.

As police applied pressure to her wounds, the victim identified her attacker to be her boyfriend, Damien Jones, the complaint states.

The victim told police that she had told Jones she wanted to break up with him, after which Jones reportedly stabbed her numerous times with a pocketknife before fleeing in a silver SUV.

Medics arrived at the scene and transported the victim to a hospital, where she immediately underwent surgery, the complaint states.

The frightened boy taken to his grandmother's house.

A bloody knife was recovered by police, along with other evidence, according to the complaint.

Jones faces charges of attempted murder in the first and second degrees.
