Girls’ Basketball: Polars looking to do better this season
The North Polars girls’ basketball squad is approaching the coming season with much anticipation for improving on their better record when the smoke clears at the end of February.
Coach Andy Jacobson voiced confidence in his team’s dedication to improvement.
“We have players that are willing to put their mind and body to getting better every day. We pride ourselves in not getting outworked.
“With those goals in mind, we are taking a whole new mindset into our games this season.”
Leading the Polars will be co-captains Mackenzie Erpenbach and Claire McNamara. Erpenbach is a senior forward, while McNamara is a junior guard for the Polars.
Backing up the captains will be senior Shaylynn Rembert, followed by juniors Ashley Wiederhold, Autumn Moder and Kelley Steinberg.
Sophomore Anna Kemper, along with ninth graders Jolisa Ross and Abby Schouvieller make up the North roster for the early going in the season.
Assisting coach Jacobson will be varsity assistant Christina Sampson, JV coach Katy Larson, “B” Squad coach Pat Webb and Ninth Grade coach Cami Bauer.
Coach Jacobson picked a bevy of teams who might well be battling it out for the Classic Suburban Conference title come season’s end. Among them were Simley, Tartan, Hill-Murray and Richfield.
North will open the season Dec. 6 and 7 when they participate in a four-team tournament—North, Woodbury, Washburn and Shakopee—at Woodbury.
