Hey! Get away from my car!
Hearing noises in the predawn hours of Nov. 21, a homeowner at a trailer park in the 4600 block of Prior Avenue opened her door and saw two prowlers attempting to remove her tires. “Hey, get away from my car!” she yelled, and the pair, who had already stolen her stereo and speakers, fled the scene in a gray sedan.

Mounds View

A burglar forced the lock on a garage in the 5400 block of Landmark Circle mid-day Nov. 13, making off with a Mossberg shotgun, four Quantum home theater projectors and eight Spectrum speakers. The total loss was estimated at $480.

Cold-weather biking
A thief broke into a shed in the 7900 block of Woodlawn Drive on Nov. 10, and rode off on a Mongoose mountain bike valued at $225.

Domestic assault
A 14-year-old boy was on his way to the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center just after midnight Nov. 14 after pushing and shoving his mom in their Jackson Drive apartment building. The youth was charged with misdemeanor domestic assault. 

Call me a cab
The ignition interlock device worked like a charm after the drinker left the bar in the 2400 block of County Hwy. 10 the night of Nov. 16. His car failed to start and was left overnight in the parking lot. Unfortunately a prowler spotted the $500 device and broke a window during the night to get it.

New Brighton

Police responded to a 911 call from a man in an apartment in the 1400 block of 21st Avenue N.W. the night of Nov. 23 who said another man had called and threatened to kill him. Police found the suspect punching through a glass door with the would-be victim attempting to hold the door shut. The suspect got into the apartment and ran toward the 33-year-old local man yelling, “I’m going to kill you!” but was knocked down by an officer with a Taser shot. The 36-year-old Blaine suspect, who had been kicked out of the apartment earlier, was booked at the jail on assault and criminal damage to property charges.

North Oaks

Homework? Yuck!
A 14-year-old refused to stop with the video games and get after his homework the evening of Nov. 21, so dad picked the boy up and yelled at him. The youth called 911, deputies arrived and dad was booked at the jail on charges of domestic assault, fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct pending approval of the city attorney.

St. Anthony

Two shoplifters were arrested Nov. 16 at the big-box store in the 3800 block of Silver Lake Road. Shoplifter #1, a 23-year-old woman, was also cited for felony possession of a controlled substance. She was jailed on a Ramsey County felony warrant. Shoplifter #2, a 32-year-old woman was cited for shoplifting and jailed on an Anoka County warrant for theft.  

A 14-year-old boy threatened a staff member at SAVHS on Nov. 6. School officials said they would take care if it.

Get ready
Oh, oh. A snow blower, and the gas to run it, were stolen on Veteran’s Day Nov. 11 from Mirror Lake Manor in the 4000 block of Foss Road. The loss was estimated at $820.

A joint sting by the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department and the St. Paul Police Gerald Vick Human Trafficking Unit on Nov. 25 and 26 at a Shoreview hotel resulted in the arrest of nineteen men who were booked at the jail on upcoming charges of engaging in prostitution in a public place. Charges had not been filed as of Nov. 27 due to the holidays. The sting involved an ad placed on backpage.com and a hotel not named in order to preserve it for future use. 

Drinking beer at the dog park
Folks at the dog park are usually either dog owners or prowlers looking for purses. Add a third category: a guy without a dog just sitting in his car drinking beer. Deputies on routine patrol noticed the expired tabs, the aroma of alcohol, and finally the open and empty beer cans. After the 57-year-old local failed FSTs and blew a .19 percent BAC on the Datamaster, he was charged with gross-misdemeanor, third degree DWI based on a previous offense and booked at the jail. His license plates were confiscated and destroyed.

Deputies spotting a vehicle in a ditch in the 3900 block of Victoria Street in the wee hours of Nov. 24 with the engine running, knocked on the window and awoke the slumper. The 23-year-old Blaine man, who “didn’t do well“ on the FSTs according to an investigator, was arrested and booked at the jail on a charge of gross-misdemeanor, third degree DWI based on a previous out-of-state violation. His BAC was tested at .13 percent.

Vadnais Heights

A Berwood Avenue homeowner went out to his open garage the morning of Nov. 23 and found a man standing next to his car with the door open. The intruder ran, the homeowner called 911, and the suspect was soon located in the stairwell of a nearby residence. The 37-year-old Coates, Minn. man was charged with felony burglary and felony possession of a controlled substance pending the results of a drug test.
