Have a great Thanksgiving day
The Chaplain’s Corner
Thanksgiving day will soon be here. The day was initiated in America. That is one good reason to be thankful. We can give thanks for every night we sleep in a warm bed. It may be a single dwelling house, town house, condominium or apartment.
This makes little difference. Food, clothes, fresh water and other basics of life are a blessing. The pilgrims planned a one or two day thanksgiving that turned out to be a weeklong celebration.
Personally, I thank God each morning for His watching over us, for my dear wife, our children and grandchildren. We can thank God for friends and neighbors. Most of us either have employment or retirement income. When we sit down to eat, God will be pleased if we recognize that He gives us the food. Most of us have enough and more. He desires to bless that food to our health and strength. As the weather gets colder we wear more clothes. We can give thanks to God for warm clothes.
All who desire can go to church. We can certainly enjoy our times of worship, Bible studies, Sunday school and good Christian fellowship. Many parts of the world are denied these opportunities. We can pray for and about most anything and everything. God is always waiting and listening for us.
The Salvation Army, Union Gospel Mission, Food shelf and other places have needs. We show our thanks and appreciation by giving and volunteering. Let’s give, be thankful, volunteer with love and encouragement as good servants.
For the 2013 club, Nov. 24 takes us to Ezekiel 33 and I Peter 1.
Have a joyful and thankful Thanksgiving season.
