Letter: Supports levy

To the editor:

As a former member of ISD 623 School Board and the parent of two recent Roseville Area High School (RAHS) graduates, I am asking you to “VOTE YES” for the Roseville Area Schools Levy Referendum on Nov. 5.

I am voting yes for two very personal reasons: my daughters, who graduated in 2010 and 2012 respectively. At RAHS, both received an excellent education enabling them to attend their first-choice colleges. As new college arrivals, both found they were well prepared for the academic challenges and continueto enjoy success today. They remain involved in performing arts and sports, which they participated in at RAHS.

By passing this new operating levy, which replaces one expiring in 2014, voters in our community can safeguard the resources that make it possible for every District 623 student to access the academic and personal growth opportunities my daughters had.

I also urge you to VOTE YES for the impact that an excellent school district has on our community. The ISD 623 administration has historically shown strong leadership, using our tax dollars wisely. All teachers and staff are dedicated to finding ways to help each child succeed. Therefore, the district enjoys strong community support. Families view the community as highly desirable and want to live here because our district is academically strong and fiscally prudent. When district support goes beyond just parents of current students, all households benefit from strong schools, a cohesive community, increased property values, and an enriched quality of life.
