An oath of office “re-enactment” for new Maplewood Police Chief Paul Schnell was held during the Aug. 12 city council meeting. Schnell was officially sworn in on his first day, July 29. His wife, Julie, pinned on his badge, No. 55. Mayor Will Rossbach made a statement on behalf of the city, saying, “We know that he will do a very good job for us and continue the tradition of leadership we have come to expect.”

Schnell reiterated a number of promises for his time in the position, including being open to new ideas, leading ethically and building community.

At the same meeting, two new Maplewood police officers — Brian Micheletti and Zachary Strand — were officially sworn in.
