Lake Elmo council member resigns: City looks to fill position
At the June 18 Lake Elmo city council meeting, council member Nicole Park announced that she would be stepping down from her position effective Tuesday, July 16. Her term would have expired in December 2014.
Mayor Mike Pearson announced Park’s decision by reading a short email, which Park had sent him earlier that day, aloud at the meeting.
In the email, Park states, “I have really enjoyed my six and a half years of service on the Lake Elmo city council…It was a difficult decision to end my term early, but with much thought, over this past year, I decided that it is the best decision for myself and for my family.”
Park has served on the council since 2006 and spent a year on the Park Commission before winning the seat.
The city council is accepting applications for the vacant seat now through July 12. Applicants will be interviewed mid-July in order to be appointed by July 26. Interested applicants can download the application by visiting www.lakeelmo.org or by calling City Clerk Adam Bell at 651-747-3914.
