Meet Tartan’s new football coach

Tartan Activities Director Bryan Munter recently announced that his search for a varsity football coach to replace departing Tim Murtha has been successful, with the appointment of Aaron Mullen. 

Murtha has accepted a position at the School  District 622 central office that will curtail his abilities to continue as Tartan’s head coach. 

Murtha was coach of the Titans football for two years. In the past two years, the Titans posted a Classic Suburban Conference record of 5-9 and were 7-12 overall. 

In making the announcement that Mullen will be the “new” coach of the Titans, AD Munter emphasized that Mullen will become the coach when the District 622 School Board approves the decision. That approval is expected.. 

In making the announcement, Munter stated, “For the past 14 years, Coach Mullen has been an integral part of the Tartan High School program. During that time, he has been the head “B” squad coach, as well as varsity defensive coordinator.” 

Mullen will continue his duties as Physical Education, Health and Special Education instructor at Tartan.
