Letter: More options than sprinklers

More options than sprinklers
To the editor:

I live in the northwest quadrant of Roseville. Our base is sand,  at least twenty-five feet of it. So watering lawn, garden and  trees is a must unless it rains every summer week.
Nevertheless, after reading several stories in our local  newspapers and doing some additional research, I’m retiring our traditional wasteful sprinklers (approximately 40 percent of the water sprayed  evaporates). I’m converting to soakers and looking into the  possibility of acquiring some rain barrels.
I think every good citizen should do likewise.
