Oakdale - Lake Elmo Review police reports Mar. 20, 2013
Quick getaway: A theft was reported at Kmart March 8. A man reportedly grabbed a webcam valued at $30, a tool knife valued at $21 and a tactical knife valued at $26 before exiting the store without paying. An employee confronted the man in the parking lot, but the suspect got into a Chevy Impala with a woman in the driver’s seat and fled the area. Police were unable to locate the vehicle and planned to make contact with the car’s registered owner.
Credit card fraud: A woman came to the Oakdale Police Station March 10 to report that after her purse and wallet had been stolen from her car parked outside LA Fitness, one of her stolen debit cards was used for an unauthorized purchase at Target in Oakdale. Her debit card was used to purchase five Target gift cards valued at $100 each. The woman cancelled her debit card and Target deactivated the gift cards.
Gas drive-off: Police were called to Holiday Gas Station March 10 after a woman pumped $10 worth of gas into a tan SUV and left without paying.
Handles missing: On March 11, a maintenance engineer at Ridge Crest Apartments reported someone twisted off four garage door handles during the overnight hours between March 9 and 10. No entry was gained into the garages, and the engineer had already fixed the handles. He also reported there have been about 15 handles twisted off in the last month, and requested special checks of the area.
Business burglarized: An employee at Cable Equipment Services reported that sometime between March 8 and 11, someone pried open the rear door to the business and stole two HP laptops, an Acer 17-inch monitor and three pills from inside. A pry bar was found on the rear sidewalk and was booked into evidence.
