Letter: Keep American traditions in schools

Keep American traditions in schools

To the editor:
I live in the Roseville School District and read the story in last week’s Review about the district eliminating Halloween and valentine parties.
Many conversations with my children have taken place at our dinner table about this very subject.
People move here to experience freedom unlike anywhere else in the world. Tolerance has a place in this world but not at the price of American traditions.
A familiar saying goes “When in Rome, do as the Romans,” and I believe “When in America, do as the Americans.”
I am absolutely, 100 percent certain that any person who reads this would not expect to move to another country and implement this way of thinking in the school system. So why do it here?
What I am saying comes from a good place, and those who know my family can attest to that.
