Letter: Kiwanis volunteering experience

Volunteering is great! On the last Saturday of March I had the rare privilege to volunteer to help out the less fortunate. The time to help others is one thing that retirement has afforded me. I joined 140 other individuals at a small non-profit company called Bridging to assemble 89 new dressers purchased at a discount from Ikea using money provided by eight Kiwanis clubs and their associated Key clubs in the metro area.

The political, technical, and legal “climates” are such that it is a good time to work toward integrating solar power into the Roseville community. Consequently, last week, a small group of interested residents and City officials met to learn about the current state of affairs, with interest in starting to explore solar possibilities for Roseville.

Maybe it was destiny--you see, I grew up about three blocks away from New Brighton City Hall. And I’m pretty sure I was at least partially named after the lake in Arden Hills.
