Tartan Theatre Summer Intensive has been busy with three weeks of rehearsals for the classic Broadway hit musical “Chicago.” The musical is set in the roaring twenties- sin, corruption, and All That Jazz. Going green isn’t just a fad in Oakdale and Lake Elmo -- it’s an ongoing effort.
Both cities were recognized at the June 20 League of Minnesota Cities annual conference for their implementation of a number of environmental sustainability practices. At the conference, both suburbs were designated as Step Two GreenStep cities as part of the Minnesota GreenStep Cities program.
Cimarron and Landfall children home from school for the summer do not need to worry about where their next meal will be coming from, thanks to a program through FamilyMeans and Concordia Creative Learning Academy.
Starting June 13, free, nutritious lunches and snacks will be available at three locations in the east metro area: Concordia Creating Learning Academy in St. Paul and the FamilyMeans sites in Landfall and Cimarron in Lake Elmo. The lunches meet the summer meal guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act.
Even without having played a game yet this summer, the Tri-City Red American Legion baseball team took over the top spot in the state rankings last week. The voting took place prior to Red’s first game of the summer.
Chris Lawson, a 2012 graduate of St. Anthony Village High School, was recently named an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference academic honoree. A freshman at the College of St. Scholastica, Lawson was named academic all-conference for the spring season.
To be eligible, student-athletes must post a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. Lawson is a member of the Saints’ men’s track and field team and also runs cross country for the school in Duluth, Minn.
