Sheriff’s office investigating May 21 Lake Elmo shooting

The Washington County sheriff’s office is currently investigating a shooting that occurred around 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, in Lake Elmo.
A motorist called 911 to report that her passenger had been shot near the intersection of state Highway 36 and Highland Trail.

Mustangs claim conference track and field crown

The Mounds View High School girls track and field team rode a strong showing in the field events to the Suburban East Conference championship last week.
The Mustangs scored 104 of their 180 points in five field events. They were especially dominant in the throws and the pole vault.

Shoreview seeks volunteers to combat Emerald Ash Borer

The city of Shoreview is preparing for some uninvited guests that have been appearing in more and more communities throughout the state. The city first confirmed the arrival of the tiny, yet destructive pests known as the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) last year. Adult specimens are a green metallic color and about a half an inch long.

Knights fastpitch reaches final four in section

For the first time in anybody’s memory, the Irondale High School fastpitch softball team finds itself still playing after Memorial Day.
The Knights won their first two Section 5AAA playoff games last week and are one of two teams without a loss in the section heading into Tuesday’s action.
